Experience Early Learning at Canberra Girls Grammar
Co-educational ELC
At our co-educational ELC, children learn through purposeful play experiences. We ensure they receive a tailored experience in an innovative learning environment based on their abilities. In addition, children benefit from engaging with a specialist music teacher, a teacher-librarian, a French teacher, and a PE teacher as part of their regular learning.
Located on the Junior School campus, the ELC is a purpose-built facility, with design inspiration coming from the Reggio Emilia philosophy. The program offered is play and inquiry based, integrating the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (PYP).

Live Information Sessions
Summaries and Q&A
Daily activity structure
An overview of a day in the life of the Early Learning Centre, from the perspective of both Reception and Pre Prep students and educators.
Reception and Pre Prep educations provide an insight into the links between the PYP IB curriculum and how they embed it into the daily activities both inside and outside the classroom.
Specialist lessons
ELC students are immersed in music, physical education and literature through weekly lessons with specialist teachers from the Junior School.
These opportunities provide in-depth and targeted learning while also building familiarity with the facilities and educators within the Junior School, ensuring the transition to the Prep is an exciting time for both boys and girls.
Outside Hours care
The Early Learning Centre offers a Holiday Program during the school holidays and a Before and After School Care program for students enrolled in the ELC. These programs provide children with a safe and nurturing environment, where they have opportunities to play, learn and develop new skills with their peers and supportive educators.
Links between home and school
At the ELC we believe strongly in building robust partnerships between home and school. Hear from current parents about their experiences in fostering the connection between home and school.
Curriculum Overview
The curriculum in the ELC is based on the Early Years Learning Framework in conjunction with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IB PYP). Here we provide a nurturing and nourishing program where children thrive by building on their sense of curiosity and creativity.
Transitioning to Junior School
Admission into the ELC provides guaranteed and continued enrolment to the completion of Year 12 for girls and to the completion of Year 3 for boys.
Hear how we prepare ELC students to confidently transition into Prep at the adjoining Junior School campus.
Live Question and Answer session
Submit your questions throughout the morning via the online chat function. We will endeavour to answer all your questions during the live Question and Answer session.
